FIELD TRIP @POOVAR FIRST SEM
As part of the B.Ed curriculum, we, the first year students went for a field trip on 3 March, 2022. This field trip was included in the community based practical programme of the first semester syllabus. The purpose of the trip is usually for observation for education, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities.
The theme of the field trip for the teacher trainee's was arts and crafts along with beauty of nature . In other words, this one day programme aimed to develop aesthetic sense, imagination and creativity in teacher trainee's and thereby mould them to be an effective teacher in English. It was for this purpose that the students along with the optional teachers attended the field trip to Thiruvananthapuram. The places visited were Kerala Arts and Crafts Village, Poovar isalnd and Azhimala.
There were around 51 students from English, Natural Science, Physical Science, Social Science and Mathematics optionals. The number of teachers who accompanied the students was about 7. Everyone assembled in the college by 6 am.The teachers took the correct number of the students present and after that all of us got into the Deivik, the tourist bus that were parked near the entrance. The journey began by 7:00 am. There was a prayer song before the journey and then the students as well as the teachers had a wonderful time in the bus. On the way to Thiruvananthapuram, we had our breakfast at ST. JOHN'S MALANKARA MEDICAL VILLAGE premises.
1.KERALA ARTS AND CRAFTS VILLAGE
We reached the Kerala Arts and Crafts Village at 9:30 am and inquired about the entering pass in the reception.By then, it was 10:00 am and the students were asked to stand in queue to enter into the arts & craft exhibition rooms.
In Kerala arts and craft village, there were having a huge collection of handmade craft items by using naturally available things such as bamboo, coconut, shell, clay, cotton, cane, wood etc. The handmade crafts where having a magical touch of the artist, which created a sense of excitement and magical
feeling among us.
In Malayalam language, ‘Poovar’ means river and flower. The natural beauty of Poovar Island is stunning and undisturbed. Poovar enjoys pleasant weather almost throughout the year. However, it is a fantastic idea to visit Poovar Island. Poovar Island is famous for its undisturbed natural beauty. Once you have enjoyed the uninterrupted view of the confluence of the river, lake, backwaters and the sea then you can plan some fun-filled activities at Vizhinjam Marine Aquarium and Kovalam Surf Club.
We reached there around 12:30pm.Poovar is only 30 kms from Thiruvananthapuram, the state’s capital, which is well-connected to other parts of the country. Thus, it is quite easy to reach Poovar by all three means of the transportation.
Awesome and amazing place.
The sands there are golden in color having river on one side and ocean on another.
Various sight seeing places are there like mangroves forest, Mother Mary statue, elephant rock, coconut island, floating restaurant, floating cottages, etc.
We 8 members sailed around the poovar Island in the boat having the capacity to hold 8 members. The views Sandeep bhoot was so memorizing and pleasant giving.A trip to Poovar Island is made memorable by a fun boating experience on the relaxing backwaters and the majestic Neyyar River. There are several incredible things to do in Kerala and a visit to Poovar Island should be among the very top of those. The fantastic variety of tourism options in an around Poovar Island will made our trip extremely enjoyable. can explore the many attractions here like the surf club, lighthouse, marine aquarium, natural harbours, and enchanting cave temples; not to forget, enjoy the local Kerala cuisine
3 .AZHIMALA BEACH CLIFF
Just a short drive from Kovalam is the much quieter, laid back Azhimala Beach. Compared to the hustle and bustle along the coast this is a wonderfully peaceful and natural location.
Gentle waves wash the long stretch of golden sand, and the backdrop is coconut palm trees with the odd cluster of boulders. Instead of a throng of tourists you can watch the local fishermen landing their catch.Azhimala Beach provides a great getaway from hectic Trivandrum city and a pristine alternative to the seaside resort of Kovalam
AZHIMALA SHIVA TEMPLE
Kerala's biggest Shiva sculpture was unveiled for public on 21 December 2020. It has constructed in the Cliff of Azhimala beach where Shiva temple is located. The mesmerising sculpture is 58-feet-tall. Visitors are flocking the beach to watch the marvelous structure. The sculpture was created by a 29-year-old artist P. S. Devadathan who is a native of Azhimala.
An ancient center called aazhimala shiva temple with its natural beauty is blessed among the shores of Kerala shiva temple. It is situated between the huge rocks, as the name suggests, and stands at the edge of the ocean. The aazhimala temple scenario provides a fine example of its incomparable elegance. It is comprised of fantastic reminiscence’s and story through the blessings of lord shiva. As a whole it reminds us of the mythological aspects of Mount Kailas for its abundant flow of devotees. We the teacher trainees wondered by the great creation of mankind.
